Drinking the cup false religion distilled;
But with what happiness our hearts were thrilled
When of God’s Kingdom we heard.

1. Eens was ons hart in verwarring en nood
door wat de valse religie ons bood.
Groot was de vreugd die ons hart ondervond
toen het Gods boodschap verstond.

2. Nu dienen wij onze God geest’lijk sterk.
Wij nemen deel aan het predikingswerk,
loven Gods deugden, met broeders tesaam,
prijzen zijn heilige naam.

3. Wij vrezen niet wat de Duivel beraamt,
