Music by Giancarlo Bigazzi & Umberto Tozzi, lyrics by Trevor Veitch. Originally recorded by Italian pop singer Umberto Tozzi in 1974 as a ballad. The best known version was performed by Laura Branigan (born 7/3/57, died 8/26/04). The song went to #2 on the US Billboard Top 40 charts in 1982. It was also a #1 hit in Australia, #2 in Canada, and #6 in the UK.
