Some People

by Jakob Dylan

Some people dance cheek to cheek
Some people dance
Life was so simple then, a kind of playtime
You made it easy then, we had a great time
I try not to talk too fast
Like you do whenyou fall in love
But some people let their passion scream
And some people understand their dream
Life was so simple then, a kind of playtime
You made it easy then, we had a great time
Some people dance cheek to cheek
Some people dance
Life was so simple then, a kind of playtime
You made it easy then, we had a great time
I take you somewhere different
It's only me can see the change
Cause some people are tied to emotion
And some people understand their dream
Life was so simple then, a kind of playtime
You made it easy then, we had a great time
Some people dance cheek to cheek
Some people dance
Life was so simple then, a kind of playtime
You made it easy then, we had a great time

As you go!
On your way, throughout it all,
without a questioning of consequence in store
And all the things that you wanted,
made for a better way of everything they're using you for
That's when you feel like you're dying,
and want to and some place to go
And then you say that you'll and a better way,
like so many times before, as you go!
So many profiting, from your misfortune
and a broken intuition brought abuse
Now as they're gloating in your face and stand so prominent
Now asking how you had ever have a chance without a clue!
That's when you feel like you're dying,
and want to and some place to go!
And then you say that you'll and a better way,
like so many times before, as you go!
Look at the faces that you trust and put them up inside your head!
And out of all the faces that you see,
who's gonna be there in the end?
And out of all the times that you have turned,
like so many times before
Who's gonna be the one to turn their back, running out that door!
Some people! Trying on their fake-ass two faces,
saying they only want what's best for you
But hidden deep down within all their smiles, was depravity arising soon
That's when you feel like you're dying,
and want to and some place to go!
And then you say that you've found a better way,
than so many times before, as you go!
Look at the faces that you trust and put them up inside your head!
And out of all the faces that you see, who's gonna be there in the end?
And out of all the times that you have turned, like so many times before
Who's gonna be the one to turn their back, running out that door!
How many people want to and the time
and want to make your fantasies come true?
How many people want to tell you lies
and want to tell you what you're supposed to do?
And when you gonna realize that it's all just in your head?
Think for you, for yourself instead!
Far away, far from home, from the truth and the lies
Far away from things that they tell you, well that's where you'll and
That's when you feel like you're trying
and then you've found some place to go!
And now you say that you've found a better way,
than so many times before, as you go!
Look at the faces that you trust and put them up inside your head!
And out of all the faces that you see,
who's gonna be there for you in the end?
And out of all the times that you had turned, like so many times before
Who's gonna be the one to turn their back? Running out that door!
Out that door!
Out that door!
Out that door!

Some people kill for less
Some people find it hard to get dressed
Some people well...
Ask how old I am
Some people live in a life
Some people need more than a slice
But when it fades...
When the glitter's gone
You know it
You owe it
To yourself
You won't let it make you
And it's already crazy
Old and lonely when the shade is down
The brighter lights just smells their empty heads
Some people don't get much
Some people feel here and touch
What your spirit wants...
Is talking to you now
Some people just gotta say
Some people just wanna play
They get a kick...
When it's all messed up
You know it
You owe it
To yourself
You won't let it make you
And it's already crazy
And what you thought you lost was just mislaid
All the poems written in your skin

Some People

Some people can get a thrill
knitting sweaters and setting still.
That's okay for some people
who don't know they're alive.
Some people can thrive and bloom
living life in the living room.
That's perfect for some people
of one hundred and five.
But I at least gotta try
when I think of all the sights that I gotta see
and all the places I gotta play,
all the things that I gotta be at.
Come on, papa, what do you say?
Some people can be content
playing bingo and paying rent.
That's peachy for some people,
for some hum-drum people to be,
but some people ain't me!
I had a dream,
a wonderful dream, papa,
all about June in the Orpheum circuit.
Gimme a chance and I know I can work it.
I had a dream.
Just as real as can be, papa.
There I was in Mr. Orpheum's office
and he was saying to me, "Rose,
get yourself some new orchestrations,
new routines and red velvet curtains.
Get a feathered hat for the baby;
photographs in front of the theatre.
Get an agent and in jig time
you'll be being booked in the big time."
Oh, what a dream.
A wonderful dream, papa.
And all that I need is eighty-eight bucks, papa.
That's what he said, papa.
Only eighty-eight bucks.
"You ain't gettin' eighty-eight cents from me, Rose."
"Well, I'll get it someplace else! But I'll get it! And get my kids out!"
Goodbye to blueberry pie.
Good ridance to all the socials I had to go to,
all the lodges I had to play,
all the shriners I said hello to.
Hey, L.A., I'm comin' your way!
Some people sit on their butts;
got the dream, yeah, but not the guts.
That's living for some people,
for some hum-drum people I suppose.
Well, they can stay and rot!
But not Rose!

Some People

Isn't it a gamble
Layin' your heart out on the floor
Nothin' short of a miracle
When you find the one you're looking for
It's another kind of trouble trying to hang on to who you are
When all you wanna do is lose yourself in someone else's arms
Isn't it a wonder (that) we got this far
Some people aren't lucky like us
Some people they just give up
When the hard times fall
The thrill of it all is gone
Leaves you in a cloud of dust
It's sad to think that some won't find it
And others won't recognize it even when it comes
We're all at the mercy of the will of love
Some people yeah
Some people aren't lucky like us
Two lonely souls that just stumbled into fate
Look how much we've been given babe
In spite of all of our mistakes
And I will never forget I've been blessed with the gift of lovin' you
And when the going aint easy babe
A little faith will pull us through
Thank God we have eachother we can hang onto
[repeat chorus]
[Bridge]
To have someone you can laugh with
Someone you can cry with
Tell all your secrets to
To have someone who won't judge you
Someone who just loves you
No matter what, they stand beside you
[repeat chorus]

Some people they tease one another
Take pride in themselves
Keeping the other one down
Well I'm not like that at all
Some people they hurt one another
They love to see
Hurt in the other one's eyes
Well I'm not like that at all
Some people are born for each other
They love to walk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand
Some people cry
Some people know why
Oh, ah, ah
Some people they use one another
So aimlessly
Not like lovers do
Well I'm not like that at all
Some people they long for each other
They love to talk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand
Some people cry
Some people know why
With a word unspoken
With a voice unheard
When a thought is broken
By a tender word
When a heart is moved
When a heart is thrown
The silence tells you
You're not alone
Some people are born for each other
They love to walk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand
Some people cry
Some people know why
Some people...
(Some people are born for each other)
They love to walk holding the other one
(Some people they long for each other)
They love to talk holding the other one
(Some people are born for each other)
They love to walk holding the other one
Holding the other one
Holding each other

So what, so what if I was wrong
I said you can't get me cause I'm far too strong
That's when he hit me and said that's not how it's gonna be
Then he emptied all my pockets as he emptied me
So pick me up, take me in, got to get away from him
Take me in, take my side, cause I really got to hide
Cause if you don't then I'm through cause no one knows what he might do
Take me in or lock me up cause these beatings got to top
I think I just ate too much
I thought I was through I was lonely and frightened didn't know what to do
He was about to hit me, ready to bust out all my teeth
If you get a cold it will only be so much easier to breathe
So pick me up, take me in, got to get away from him
Got a cold, got to teeth and it sure is eaier to breathe
Still I don't like him, not one bit cause he's still doing that same old shit
Beating me up, bringing me down although I wish it was the other way around
You picked me up, took me in, so that I could get away from him
Now how the future looks for me that's what I'm about to see
But what I've learned from all of this is how it sets around my waist
How bad it was and still is and of course how bad it tastes
I think I just ate too much

Some people, they know how to play the game of love
Some people, know just who to pray to up above
I know where I'm going, I'm taking it straight to the top
I know where I'm going, I don't see a reason to stop
You took my hand, put me back where I started
Showed me the way, showed me the way
You took my hand, put me back where I started
Some people seem to get the best of life really easy
Some people seemed to be put on this earth to please me
I know that I'm lucky - what you give me I'll send right back
I know I'm so lucky - this won't be a tough one to crack
You took my hand, put me back where I started
Showed me the way, showed me the way
You took my hand, put me back where I started
Some of us were living in perplexion
While otherws seemed to go sailing through
Some of us were getting no direction
Some of us could only think of you
Some people can give every piece of their heart to another
Some people are just as happy when they're left on their own
I know what I have now - the grass isn't greener over there
I know what I have now - and it's something that I want to share
You took my hand, put me back where I started
Showed me the way, showed me the way
You took my hand, put me back where I started
